The Influence of Military Expenditures on Gross Domestic Product the NATO Countries from 1988 to 2017

This bachelor thesis focus on proving the influence of military expenditures on gross domestic product the NATO countries from 1988 to 2017. Modern approach of panel data was used for econometric analysis. The main aim of this thesis is to describe correctly and find out common relation of these variables, influenced by economic, military and other shocks. These shocks may demonstrate as cross-section dependence. The consequence of the cross-section dependence results inconsistent estimation of regular estimators for example Fixed effect method. Furthermore the thesis is divided into three main sections. Firstly, similar studies and data sample are introduced. Next part explain used methodology, included description of applied tests and models. The last section contain the interpretation of results, where we come to the conclusion, that in short-run military expenditures are not able to have same speed as gross domestic product, however these variables tend in the long-run to equilibrium.Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje nalezení vlivu vojenských výdajů na hrubý domácí produkt zemí NATO v letech 1988 až 2017. K ekonometrické analýze byly použity moderní přístupy k dynamickým panelovým datům. Hlavním úkolem této práce je korektně popsat a zjistit společný vztah těchto veličin, které jsou ovlivněny mnoha ekonomickými, vojenskými a dalšími šoky. Tyto šoky se mohou projevit v datech jako průřezová závislost. Ta má za následek nekonzistentnost běžných odhadů, jako je například metoda Fixních efektů. Dále je práce rozdělena do tří hlavních sekcí. V první jsou přiblíženy studie na podobné téma a představen datový vzorek. Následná část vysvětluje použitou metodologii, včetně popsání aplikovaných testů a modelů.Poslední z nich obsahuje interpretaci výsledků, kde jsme došli k závěru, že v krátkém časovém horizontu nejsou schopny výdaje na zbrojení reagovat na rychlost hrubého domácího produktu, avšak v delším období tyto veličiny konvergují do vzájemného rovnovážného bodu
