Chaebols and their impact on the economy of South Korea

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá jihokorejskými konglomeráty, které se nazývají chaeboly. Jejím cílem je zhodnocení vlivu chaebolů na ekonomiku Jižní Koreje od konce Korejské války až po současnost. V úvodní kapitole je stručně popsán průběh válečného konfliktu. Velká pozornost je věnována poválečnému ekonomickému vývoji Jižní Koreje. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na chaeboly a jejich typické rysy. Dále rozebírá vliv pěti největších chaebolů současné doby. Poslední kapitola se zabývá analýzou vývoje vztahu mezi chaeboly a státem. Rovněž zkoumá problémy, které chaeboly způsobují, a představuje různá opatření, která by mohla zlepšit současnou situaci.This bachelor’s thesis deals with South Korean conglomerates which are also known as chaebols. The aim of the thesis is the assessment of the impact of chaebols on South Korea’s economy from the end of Korean War up to the present. The introductory chapter briefly depicts the course of the armed conflict. Great attention is paid to the post-war economic development of South Korea. The second chapter is focused on chaebols and their typical features. The chapter also analyzes the influence of the currently five largest chaebols. The last chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the development of the relationship between chaebols and the state. It also examines problems caused by chaebols and presents various measures that could improve the current situation
