Short-term accommodation as a form of sharing economy and its impacts on a concrete location

The concept of “sharing economy“ is the term which is used very frequently these days. The platform, Airbnb, is one representative of a specific branch of sharing economy, as it is a provider of accommodation services, which is currently a very popular phenomen all around the world. Thanks to its rapid development since its inception in 2008 and concurrently rappidly increasing rental offers, mostly residents of touristically attractive localities feel the pressure on both : the amount of rent and the change of enviroment they live in. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to map the offer of acommodation providers in Prague on this platform and following on this information, by using questionnaires in order to find out general awareness of Prague inhabitants and their attitude towards to it. Another question in matter is to outline how the city and state are able to regulate this form of sharing economy and to summarize the overal view of the Airbnb issue by the city and its residents, property owners and last but not least, the Airbnb service providers. The conclusion of this thesis is a summary of steps taken by the city and the state, Airbnb itself and the users of this platform when the application could effectively prevent the negative effects caused by the existence of the Airbnb concept.Pojem „sdílená ekonomika“ je dnes hojně užívaným termínem. Platforma Airbnb je jedním z představitelů specifického odvětví sdílené ekonomiky, a to jakožto zprostředkovatel ubytovacích služeb, a je aktuálně velmi populárním fenoménem po celém světě. Díky jejímu rychlému rozvoji od jejího vzniku v roce 2008 a každoročně se rapidně zvyšující nabídce pronájmu na ní, pociťují převážně obyvatelé turisticky atraktivních lokalit tlak jak na výši nájmů, tak na změnu prostředí, ve kterém žijí. Cílem této práce je zmapovat nabídku poskytovatelů ubytovacích služeb v Praze na této platformě. V návaznosti na tyto informace poté dotazníkovým šetřením shrnout všeobecné povědomí obyvatel Prahy o platformě Airbnb a jejich postoj vůči ní. Dalším bodem je nastínit, jaké jsou možnosti města a státu, jak tuto formu sdílené ekonomiky regulovat a shrnout celkový pohled na problematiku Airbnb ze strany města a jeho obyvatel, majitelů domů a bytů a ze strany poskytovatele služeb na platformě Airbnb. Závěrem práce je shrnutí kroků, jak ze strany města a státu, samotného Airbnb, tak i uživatelů této platformy, které by se měly aplikovat tak, aby se zamezilo negativním vlivům plynoucích z existence platformy Airbnb
