Abstract:The thesis deals with the matter of urban overheating and the importance of maintained green areas in cities. The first chapter describes climate change and its impact on temperature rise in city centers. The second chapter explains the principle of transpiration cooling and air conditioning-like function of plants. The topic of the third chapter is the influence of high temperatures on human health. Chapter Four presents measures that some cities around the world use to avoid overheating. The practical part is devoted to the research carried out in Jindřichův Hradec (with a partial measurement in the open landscape), which was to compare temperatures in places with vegetation and without vegetation and whose results show that vege...
