Physical attractiveness and its influence at the labour market

Bachelor thesis addresses the topic of physical attractiveness and its influence in person´s life, more importantly at the labour market. Firstly, the theoretical part defines basic pillars of physical attractiveness and describes its correlation with attributed personal qualities and intelligence and answers why is it important to discuss this topic. Afterwards, the thesis speaks of the economic value of physical attractiveness not only for the individuals but also for the companies as a whole. Followingly describes how physical attractiveness influencesrecruitment and selection of employees. Lastly it discusses setbacks of employees’ selection based on appearance. Theoretical part is followed by the practical part which interprets results of a research, which has been realised to proof the influence of physical attractiveness in healthcare sector where it has never been examined before. To do so, the observation at the roentgen department took place and its results were supported by a structured interview with the head of the department. The aim of the research was to identify if there is any difference between the behaviour of patients in correlation to the level of attractiveness of the hospital employee.Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématikou fyzické atraktivity a jejího vlivu v životě člověka, zejména pak na trhu práce. Teoretická část nejprve definuje základní pilíře fyzické atraktivity a popisuje vztah mezi fyzickou přitažlivostí a přisuzovanými osobnostními vlastnostmi a inteligencí a odpovídá na otázku proč je důležité se touto tématikou zabývat. Následně pojednává o ekonomické hodnotě fyzické atraktivity, a to nejen pro jednotlivce, ale také pro podniky jako celky a v návaznosti na to popisuje, jak fyzická přitažlivost ovlivňuje nábor a výběr zaměstnanců. V neposlední řadě pak zmiňuje úskalí spojené s nabíráním zaměstnanců na základě vzhledu. Praktická část se věnuje interpretaci výsledků výzkumného šetření, realizovaného za účelem prokázání vlivu fyzické atraktivity ve zdravotnickém sektoru, kde nebyl doposud nebyl zkoumán. Bylo využito metody pozorování, které proběhlo na rentgenovém oddělení a jehož výsledky byly doplněny také o strukturovaný rozhovors vedoucím pracovníkem oddělení. Předmětem šetření bylo zjistit, zdali se liší chování pacienta v závislosti na fyzické atraktivitě pracovníka oddělení
