Actual economic situation in Qatar

In this bachelor thesis, the author analysed international relations between the constitutional monarchy Qatar and its important trading partners after the diplomatic crisis which happened in June 2017. This crisis began when Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt cut diplomatic ties with Qatar. The main reason for discontinuing the diplomatic ties was because Qatar had been accused for supporting terrorist groups active in the Gulf region. Those countries have closed their borders with Qatar (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain) and have abolished all business relationships with Qatar. This act of cutting diplomatic and trade ties has left a big impact on the actual economic situation in Qatar since Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates were important business partners for Qatar. The main goal of this thesis is to analyse the situation after the ongoing crisis and how the crisis has affected trade in Qatar. In the beginning, the history of the Arab Peninsula and Qatar will be summarized, since each crisis is affected by its precedent. Then, the focus will shift to the economic situation before the crisis in Qatar and the impact of the crisis on Qatar membership in the Gulf Cooperation Council. In the end, the trade between Qatar and its important business partners will be analysed and the way the crisis has changed those trades will be highlighted.V této bakalářské práci jsou analyzovány mezinárodní vztahy konstituční monarchie Kataru s jeho významnými obchodními partnery po diplomatické krizi, která začala v červnu 2017. Za vznikem krize stojí rozhodnutí Saudské Arábie, Spojených arabských emirátů, Bahrajnu a Egypta zpřetrhat veškeré diplomatické vztahy s Katarem. Hlavním důvodem tohoto rozhodnutí bylo nařknutí Kataru z podporování teroristických skupin, které jsou aktivní v Perském zálivu. Saudská Arábie, Spojené arabské emiráty a Bahrajn uzavřely veškeré své hranice s Katarem a zrušily obchodní vztahy s tímto státem. Tento akt přerušení diplomatických a obchodních vztahů má velký vliv na aktuální ekonomickou situaci v Kataru, protože zejména Saudská Arábie a Spojené arabské emiráty byly významnými obchodními partnery této země. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat, jak tato krize ovlivnila obchodní trh v Kataru. Na začátku práce bude shrnuta historie Arabského poloostrova se zaměřením na historii Kataru, protože každá krize má své zakořenění v minulosti. Poté bude zkoumána ekonomická situace v Kataru před krizí. Také bude uvedeno, jak krize ovlivnila členství Kataru v organizaci Gulf Cooperational Council. Na závěr bude analyzován obchod mezi Katarem a jeho významnými obchodními partnery se zdůrazněním, jak krize tento obchod změnila
