This thesis concerns with the EU approach to Turkey connected to 2016 refugee deal. Its main goal is to find out if the EU is following logic of appropriateness or logic of consequences in the EU-Turkey negotiations.The method used to answer this question is foucauldian discourse analysis, because it interconnects discourse and performativity.It was found out that EU does not follow one exsclusive logic but that they interact with each other.Coup d'état attempt in july 2016 turned out to be an important turning point.
