Effect of the Erasmus Exchange Programme on Psychological and Professional Development of Students

The theoretical part of this Bachelor's Thesis defines the basic terms of motivation of students to travel abroad, culture, acculturation and a potential culture shock. Besides that, this part looks into the options of studying abroad, now available to students, and analyses the evolution of students' and empoyees' mobility. The second part is practical part, focused on the practical application of theoretical knowledge and verifying its validity with the help of a research sample which consists of one hundred students who are studying at two main universities in the Czech republic and are participating in the Erasmus Programme of Student Exchange in the academic year 2013/2014. The chosen research method is the secondary data analysis based on the technique of a systematic probability sampling. The main objective of this study is to analyse and compare motivations and benefits of such journeys, and to examine the quality of assistance provided to the students during their stay abroad and the level of their integration into the foreign environment.Teoretická část této bakalářské práce vymezuje základní pojmy související s motivací studentů pro cestování, kulturou a akulturací, se kterou souvisí i případný kulturní šok. Tato část se také zabývá možnostmi vycestování do zahraničí, které se dnes studentům nabízí a zkoumá vývoj mobilit jak u studentů, tak u zaměstnanců. Druhou částí je část praktická, v níž využívám teoretické znalosti a ověřuji jejich platnost pomocí výzkumného vzorku sestávajícího ze sta studentů, studujících na dvou předních českých vysokých školách, kteří se v akademickém roce 2012/2013 účastnili studijního pobytu v rámci programu Erasmus. K výzkumu byla použita sekundární analýza dat pomocí metody systematického pravděpodobnostního výběru. Cílem práce je zanalyzovat a porovnat motivace a přínosy této cesty a dále také kvalitu podpory poskytované studentům během studijního pobytu v cizí zemi spolu s mírou jejich integrace do cizího prostředí
