Socialist architecture and its place in present society

This bachelor thesis called "Socialist architecture and its place in present society" focuses on socialist architecture and its relevance today. In the first part it characterizes the architecture between 1948 - 1989 related to the socio-political development. In the second part the department store Máj is selected as a representative of socialist architecture. This example demonstrates functionality of the architectural heritage of the Socialist era. The work also deals with the idea of preservation of modern buildings.Bakalářská práce s názvem "Socialistická architektura a její místo v současné společnosti" se zabývá významem architektury období socialismu a dále jejím významem v současnosti V první části je charakterizována architektura mezi lety 1948 -- 1989 vztažená ke společensko-politickému vývoji. V druhé části je pak na příkladu obchodního domu Máj demonstrována funkčnost architektonických památek socialistické éry. Práce se zabývá také myšlenkou památkové ochrany moderních staveb
