The effects of foreign direct investments in the Vysočina region

This document scrutinizes the effects of foreign direct investments (FDIs) in the Vysočina region. In the first part I define the notion of FDI, not just from the economic but also from the legislative and legal view of point. The following chapters are devoted the possible positive and negative impacts of FDIs on the host economy. The next section of the theoretical chapter describes the system of incentives for investors and mainly focuses on the state agency CzechInvest that supports enterprise and investments. After that I depict the historical development of FDIs in the Czech Republic with the emphasis on the comparison with the countries of the Visegrad Group. At the beginning of the analytic section I introduce briefly economy of the Vysočina municipality. Furthermore, I analyze more precisely the possible impacts of FDIs on following areas: the structure of the regional economy, GDP, unemployment and the disposable income. In this chapter I work especially with macroeconomic data and their development in conjunction with the increasing or decreasing trend of FDIs floating into the region. In more detail I examine the contribution of ten biggest firms, which have been allocated into the region via the agency CzechInvest, for the sake of concretization. The conclusive output of the document is the evaluation of the total importance of FDIs for the Vysočina region and its citizens.Tato práce zkoumá efekty přímých zahraničních investic (PZI) v regionu Vysočina. V první části definuji pojem PZI, a to jednak z ekonomického, ale také z legislativního a právního pohledu. Následující kapitoly se věnují možným kladným a negativním dopadům na hostitelskou ekonomiku. Další část teoretické kapitoly se zabývá systémem investičních pobídek v ČR a především činností státní agentury CzechInvest, která podporuje podnikání a investice. Poté popisuji historický vývoj PZI na území České republiky ve srovnání se státy Visegrádské čtyřky. V úvodu analytické části představuji hospodářství kraj Vysočina. Dále podrobněji analyzuji možný vliv PZI na následující oblasti: struktura regionálního hospodářství, HDP, nezaměstnanost a disponibilní důchod. V této kapitole především zpracovávám makroekonomická data a jejich vývoj v závislosti na přílivu nebo odlivu PZI do kraje Vysočina. Detailněji také pracuji s daty o deseti největších zahraničních firmách, které byly do kraje alokovány prostřednictvím agentury CzechInvest, a to za účelem konkretizace. Konečným výstupem této práce je zhodnocení celkového významu PZI pro kraj Vysočina a jeho obyvatelstvo
