The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Its International and Political Contexts

The bachelor thesis titled "The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Its International and Political Contexts" deals with the attitude and involment of the United States of America, the Soviet Union (and later the Russian Federation), the European Union and the United Nations Organisation concerning the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Each chapter dedicated to one of these main members of the Middle East conflict describes the historical dimensions of their involvement, their interests, policy as well as the impact of their influence on the development of the situation in this region. The final chapter analyses their colabouration within the so called Quartet, with the main emphasis on their common project concerning the establishment of definite peace in the Middle East, which is the plan known as the Roadmap. Possible reasons of the failure of the peace process are evaluated at the end of this paper and steps leading to a final adjustment of the relations of this stagnant conflict are proposed.Bakalářská práce na téma "Izraelsko-palestinský konflikt a jeho mezinárodně-politické souvislosti" se zabývá postojem a angažovaností Spojených států, Sovětského svazu a potažmo Ruské federace, Evropské unie a Organizace spojených národů v otázce izraelsko-palestinského konfliktu. V jednotlivých kapitolách věnovaných těmto čtyřem účastníkům blízkovýchodního konfliktu jsou přiblíženy historické dimenze jejich působení, jejich zájmy a politika a dopady jejich vlivu na vývoj situace v této oblasti. Poslední kapitola je věnovaná jejich spolupráci v rámci tzv. Kvartetu, přičemž největší důraz je kladen na jejich společný projekt zabývající se nastolením definitivního míru na Blízkém východě, kterým je plán známý pod názvem Cestovní mapa neboli Roadmap. V závěru této práce jsou zhodnoceny možné příčiny neúspěchu mírového procesu a rovněž jsou navrženy kroky, které by mohly v budoucnosti napomoct obrátit tento stagnující konflikt ke konečnému uspořádání vztahů
