Development and present situation of Romania and itsposition in the EU

Thesis concentrates on economic development of Romania and particularly of its historicaly differently developing regions and on its position in the European Union. It consists of five parts: first briefly presents current Romania from geographical, demographical, socila and cultural point of view. Second and third chapter dedicates to the development of individual parts of today's Romania from integration to the Roman Empire through 'Great Unification'in December 1918 to December revolution in 1989 with fall of N. Ceausescu. Fourth chapter deals with preparing process before entering EU and high public membership support. Fifth analyzes first year of the membership and strong and weak points of Romanian economy. It also contains evaluation of dynamics of executing duties imposed by EU and of Cooperation and Verification Mechanism that controls persisting defects elimination. In conclusion summary of general development of Romania culminating by the European membership and outlining of its future perspective in the EU is made.Práce se zaměřuje na ekonomický vývoj Rumunska a zvláště jeho historicky odlišně se vyvíjejích oblastí a postavení v Evropské unii. Skládá se z pěti hlavních kapitol: první stručně představí současné Rumunsko z geografického, demografického, společenského i kulturního pohledu. Druhá a třetí kapitola se věnuje vývoji jednotlivých oblastí dnešního Rumunska od začlenění do římské říše přes "Velké sjednocení" v prosinci 1918 po prosincovou revoluci v roce 1989 s pádem N. Ceauseska. Čtvrtá kapitola se týká procesu přípravy před vstupem Rumunska do EU a vysoké podpory členství veřejností. Pátá část se zabývá analýzou prvního roku členství a silnými a slabými stránkami rumunské ekonomiky. Součástí je i zhodnocení dynamiky plnění povinností uložených EU a mechanismu spolupráce a ověřování, který dohlíží na odstraňování přetrvávajících nedostatků. V závěru je provedeno shrnutí celkového vývoje Rumunska vrcholícího evropským členstvím a nastínění jeho další perspektivy v rámci Evropské unie
