Dreams and Present Reality of Microfinance

Microcredit is now regarded as one of the most effective weapons in the fight against the poverty. The word "microfinance" itself became worldwide known in 2006, when both Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank were awarded the Nobel Piece Prize. The thesis aims to provide a complex picture of the microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus, the emergence of modern microfinance as well as different approaches to microfinance. These subtasks are used to fulfill the main goal of this work - to acquaint a reader with the main differences between the original concept of microfinance and its present practice.Mikroúvěry jsou dnes na celém světě považovány za jednu z účinných zbraní v boji proti chudobě. Slovo mikrofinance je od roku 2006, kdy Muhammad Yunus a banka Grameen získali Nobelovu cenu za mír, skloňováno ve všech světových médiích. Práce si klade za úkol podat čtenáři ucelený obrázek o průkopníkovi mikrofinancí Muhammadu Yunusovi, o vzniku moderních mikrofinancí a o odlišných přístupech k mikrofinancím. Tyto dílčí úkoly slouží k naplnění hlavního cíle práce, a to - seznámit čtenáře s hlavními rozdíly mezi původním Yunusovým konceptem a současnou mikrofinanční praxí
