A study of Sediment Movement In The Mixing Zone Of The Madura Strait Based On Landsat Imagery

The source of sediment and waste can be detected through Landsat imagery wile te movement and the distribution of sediment can also be detected and traced. The largest source of sediment in the Madura strait is Bengawan Solo (Solo river) which carries te sediment to the sea. The sediment is produced by physical and human activities. The sediment is carried off by the running water and rivers into the sea. The sea current then distributed and separates the sediment.In this study densito-meter was carried out for classifying the sediment concentration. Delineation of sediment concentration was carried out on the basis of manual interpretation. This study was carried out by means of the MSS band 4,5,7 black and white scale 1 : 1,000,000, colour composite and false colour in the same scale.The study can be used for : 1. Detecting sediment sources 2. Identifying sediment concentration, 3. Tracing the sediment movement and, 4. Prelilinary survey in sea water quality.Hlm. 210-22
