The Exploration Of Lichens In Universitas Indonesia, Depok

Research on lichens was conducted on the main road of Universitas Indonesia, Depok on March - May 2015. The aim of this research was to determine the diversity of lichens. Nine of 50 m line transects were made at the main road. Five trees of each line transect were sampled. The samples were taken from trees with minimum DBH (diameter at breast height) of 20 cm then the grid of 10 cm x 10 cm were attached at northern, southern, eastern, and western site of the trunk. The grid was divided into 100 square, then was attached on the trees in different height (0 cm - 100 cm and 100 cm - 200 cm) from the land surface. The results obtained 3 genus of lichens were found at street margin. They are Physcia, Pyxine, and hypotrachyna. All of them are foliose lichens. Foliose lichens have flattened and prostate shape with an upper surface that is different with lower surface, either in color or surface features. The thallus is usually attached by rhizines over most or all of the lower surface. The main thallus contains 4 layers: upper cortex, algal layer, medulla and lower cortex.Hlm.216-22
