ABSTRACT The research was aimed to analyze rainfall estimation and flood sensitivity by using satellite remote sensing data and other supporting data. The method was based on Barret's rainfall estimation and flood sensitivity index determination. Factors used to determine the index parameters were land cover/use, stream pattern texture and rainfall altitude ratio. The result showed that Barret's rainfall coefficient was exponentially correlated with observed rainfall. Flood occurrence in Semarang in January 1997 was related to flat area, urban land use, fine stream pattern texture and high rainfall.
