This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model in increasing student’s originality thinking skills in electrolyte and non-electrolyte subject matter. The population of this research was students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Metro on academic semester 2013/2014. Sample was taken by purposive sampling and obtained were class X1 and X2as sample. The method of the research was quasi experimental with non equivalent (pretest and postest) control-group design. The effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model was showed by the significant difference of n-Gain between control class and experiment class.
