(Abstract) This paper examines how simplification occurred on a conservation project of mangrove wetlands in Ca Mau province, Vietnam. Since 1990s, mangrove wetlands have become the subject of conservation in Vietnam. This paper discusses the national forest conservation program 327-CT implemented in 1993 and the World Bank project implemented to reestablish the coastal mangrove wetlands ecosystem and sustainably protect their aquatic nurturing and coastal protection function in 1999 in Ca Mau province. These projects applied mixed shrimp aquaculture-mangrove farming system as the best model of wetlands use.
