The article is the first in the line of articles dealing with the issues of quality in adult education and with the POKI model (Offering quality education to adults), developed by Slovenian Institute for Adult Education and being in use since 2001. The model defines self-evaluation as basic method for quality assessment but is based in its core on the total quality management (TQM) principle. The model has been rather well accepted within the network of organisations, implementing educational programmes for adults. The five-year era of the model implementation gives us time to reflect and rethink in depth about it and its efficiency (results).
