Construcción y Estudio psicométrico de un instrumento para evaluar inteligencia emocional en estudiantes chilenos

Developing Emotional Intelligence in people is fundamental to achieving personal fulillment and happiness. If it is believed that the focus of education should be centered on the holistic formation of students it is important to start from their personal characteristics in order to provide them with resources, experiences and learning opportunities that favor the transversal acquisition of competencies for both life and well-being. Considering the relevance of having valid and reliable instruments to measure Emotional Intelligence, and based on the results being able to contribute to the improvement of the quality of Chilean education, this research aims to analyze the psychometric characteristics of the pilot version of the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire and to make the corresponding adjustments in order to have a measurement instrument that allows the identiication of the level of development of skills related to Emotional Intelligence in the school population. he study involved 499 students from the ith grade (10 years old) to the fourth year of secondary education (17 years old) in the Province of Concepción; the data were analyzed using the SPSS (version 22) statistical programmed. he items were subjected to factor analysis, reliability analysis using Cronbach's alpha and expert judgment. Based on the results, it was concluded that, although the pilot instrument has reliable measures, it requires adjustments so that its structure is consistent with the conceptual framework of the variable to be measured, which was achieved with the development of the inal version of the instrument.Desarrollar la Inteligencia Emocional en las personas, es fundamental para el logro de la realización y felicidad personal; si se concibe que en la educación el foco debe estar en la formación integral de los estudiantes, es necesario entender que para lograrlo se requiere partir de sus características personales, a in de dotarles de recursos, experiencias y oportunidades de aprendizaje que favorezcan la adquisición transversal de competencias para la vida y el bienestar. Considerando la relevancia de contar con instrumentos válidos y coniables para medir la Inteligencia Emocional y a partir de los resultados aportar a mejorar la calidad de la educación chilena, esta investigación tiene por objetivo analizar las características psicométricas de la versión piloto del Cuestionario de Inteligencia Emocional y hacer los ajustes que corresponda para disponer de un instrumento de medición que permita identiicar el nivel de desarrollo de habilidades propias de la Inteligencia Emocional en población escolar. Participaron 499 estudiantes desde quinto básico (10 años) a cuarto año de enseñanza media (17 años) de la Provincia de Concepción; los datos fueron analizados con el programa estadístico SPSS versión 22, los ítems fueron sometidos a análisis factorial, análisis de coniabilidad usando alfa de Cronbach y juicio de expertos. A la luz de los resultados, se concluye que, si bien el instrumento piloto cuenta con medidas que lo hacen coniable, requiere ajustes para que su estructura sea coherente con el marco conceptual de la variable que se pretende medir, lo cual fue logrado con la elaboración de la versión deinitiva del instrumento
