Docencia e investigación en la universidad: de una relación problemática a una productiva

Teaching and researchhave become the University in two opposing tasks, emphasizing research. It is necessary to move beyond the tired old “teaching versus research” debate, to productively situate how they can be complementary. The framework of the “Scholarship of Teaching and Learning” represents the new agenda about quality of teaching and learning at the international level in Higher Education. The SoTL is a way to promote the university teaching and to situate it at same level that the the research. Involves systematic study of teaching and/or learning and the public sharing and review of such work through presentations or publications. In this article we place the organizational framework necessary to make it possible (Professional Learning Communities), as well as two specific current ways of doing it (Lesson Study and Instructional Rounds).La enseñanza y la investigación universitarias se han convertido en dos tareas contrapuestas, primando la investigación. Es necesario ir más allá del viejo debate “enseñanza versus investigación” para situar productivamente de qué modo pueden ser complementarias. El marco del Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) representa una nueva agenda sobre calidad de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje en educación superior a nivel internacional. La SoTL es una forma de promover la enseñanza universitaria y situarla al mismo nivel que la investigación. Implica el estudio sistemático de la enseñanza, el aprendizaje y el intercambio público y la revisión de dicho trabajo a través de presentaciones o publicaciones. En este artículo situamos el marco organizativo necesario para que ello sea posible (Comunidades Profesionales de Aprendizaje), así como dos modos específicos actuales de realizarlo (estudio de la clase, visitas de clase)
