Estrutura E Dinâmica Familiar No Estágio Tardio Do Ciclo Vital E Deficiência Intelectual

To know and understand the dynamics of a family including a member with Intellectual Disability in the late life cycle stage. Method: This was a qualitative clinical study. Ten families that took part in semistructured interviews were chosen. The interviews were complemented with genograms and ecomaps, and then content and thematic analysis was performed. The Systems Theory was used as theoretical referential and the Calgary Model for Family Evaluation (MCAF), as the methodologic referential. Results: Based on interviews with families, the following categories were developed: Family’s interaction with Intellectual Disability; Communication as a family strategy to share feelings and notice the other person; The perception of family isolation and the need of external aid; Family’s concern about future care: aging and death; and Interview as a tool to increase family communication and future reflections. Conclusion: Families including a person with Intellectual Disability face changes in their dynamics, structure and organization; they deal with difficulties regarding the social inclusion of the person with Intellectual Disability; and use specific mechanisms of communication and support search, in addition to the suffer they face towards future projectionsConhecer a estrutura e compreender a dinâmica da família no estágio tardio do ciclo vital que possuísse um integrante com Deficiência Intelectual. Método: Tratou-se de um estudo clínico qualitativo. Foram selecionadas dez famílias que participaram de entrevistas semiestruturadas, complementadas com genogramas e ecomapas, e foram submetidas à análise temática de conteúdo. Utilizou-se a Teoria Geral de Sistemas como referencial teórico e o Modelo Calgary de Avaliação de Família (MCAF) como referencial metodológico. Resultados: Das famílias entrevistadas, emergiram as seguintes categorias: A família convivendo com a Deficiência Intelectual; A comunicação como estratégia familiar de compartilhar sentimentos e perceber o outro; A percepção do isolamento familiar e a necessidade de auxílio externo; A família preocupando-se com o cuidado no futuro: envelhecimento e morte; e A entrevista como ferramenta de ampliação da comunicação familiar e reflexão diante do futuro. Conclusão: As famílias com uma pessoa com Deficiência Intelectual enfrentam mudanças em sua dinâmica, estrutura e organização; lidam com dificuldades para a inserção social da pessoa com Deficiência Intelectual; e utilizam mecanismos particulares de comunicação e de busca de apoio, além de apresentarem sofrimento em relação às projeções de futuro.Dados abertos - Sucupira - Teses e dissertações (2017
