BACKGROUND: Tranexamic acid (TA) is an antifibrinolytic drug whose safety and costeffectiveness have been tested and proved in many clinical situations. The use of TA in the context of surgical treatment of severe epistaxis is still underexplored. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effects and adverse reactions related to the administration of TA in patients undergoing endoscopic arterial cauterization for severe epistaxis. METHODS: A randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was undertaken with patients undergoing endoscopic arterial cauterization by severe epistaxis.
