Jennifer Davis - Illinois Dept. of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health. Many contaminants in the environment can affect human health. Some of the "old" contaminants are returning as a different hazard as our understanding and technology enable us to see them in different ways. In addition, other new contaminants are being recognized as having impact on human health. Examples will include arsenic, mercury, and pharmaceutical contamination of water.
