The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between gender type in mentorship and mentees’ advancement using 153 usable questionnaires gathered from employees who worked in a public university in East Malaysia, Malaysia. The results of exploratory factor analysis confirmed that the measurement scales used in this study satisfactorily meet the standards of validity and reliability analyses. Next, the outcomes of stepwise regression analysis showed four important findings: firstly, interaction between same-gender positively and significantly correlated with mentees’ career.
