MIM (Metal Injection Molding) is the more attractive alternative compared with the classical powder metallurgy. The process combines the advantage of powder metallurgy (more independence of material sampling) and the plastic injection molding (more independence of shape design). Advantages in mechanical properties are given by an higher density and the regular microstructure with controllable grain size and also from totally closed porosity with rounded shape of pores.
