Points of contact or friction? : documents of national defence from Brazil and from United States

Este artigo investiga os tópicos que revelam os dissensos e as convergências nas políticas de defesa e segurança internacional do Brasil e dos Estados Unidos. Avaliando as possibilidades de atrito e entre os dois países, argumenta que os documentos que tornam públicas as estratégias revelam mudanças importantes no enquadramento conferido por cada país ao outro e também que, apesar de ambiguidades e descompassos, desde 2010, há mais espaço discursivo dos Estados Unidos para o Brasil definir agenda e negociar seus interesses estratégicos.This paper investigates the topics that reveal disagreements and convergences in defense and international security policies in Brazil and the United States. Assessing the chances of friction between the two countries, one argues that the documents which makes public both countries strategies reveal important changes in the guidelines issued by each country to the other and that, despite ambiguities and mismatches, since 2010, there is more discursive space from U.S. to Brazil set agenda and negotiate his strategic interests
