The aim of the study in this thesis was to develop a method for determining the orientation of adsorbed protein molecules and to study the influence of the electrical potential of the interface on the interfacial properties of proteins, including their orientation.In the adsorption of proteins on solid surfaces many factors play a role. The most important are electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the protein molecules and the sorbent surface, and structural rearrangements in the protein molecules. From earlier studies it was concluded that proteins with regard to their adsorption behaviour can be roughly divided into "hard" and "soft" proteins.
