Buddhadhamma as Science in Praxis

This is an address given in Cuba in Spanish translation. It seeks to introduce the Buddhadhamma, namely the Buddha's Teachings, as contrasted with 'Buddhism', the cultural manifestations in the diverse geoethnic contexts. Beginning with the renunciation of Prince Siddhattha, it shows how after six years, he becomes the Buddha in that one single night, also showing how reality relating to human existence comes to be discovered experientially and empirically, and not mythologically or speculatively. Buddha teaching both the reality of human suffering and the way out, they are captured in the title 'Buddhism as Science in Praxis'. 'Self-discipline' (sila) identified as the key to both living and liberation, it is shown how it, preceded by the practice of generosity (dana), is foundational to meditation. Introduced also are the four stages of the Path towards Liberation, beginning with 'stream entry' (sotapatti), as well as life in the sky-sphere, not a hot topic, in the process of going from life to life. Presented, however, is not only the spiritual but also the social dimension ? Family, Economic and Political. Buddhadhamma argued to be a going against sentient Evolution, the paper ends with an appeal to Scientists in particular to 'cease and desist', meaning to put a temporary stop to their research to get a handle on the Saddhamma before returning to their research with fresh insights, and at a stage far advanced than their own Western science. As can be seen, the strength of the paper is that it brings together a wide range of topics often dealt with separately.
