In the field of silicon nanocrystals (ncSi), polydispersity, pH-independent aqueous colloidal stability, near-infrared (NIR) to visible photoluminescence tunability and cytotoxicity present significant challenges in the elucidation of important size-dependent physical, chemical, and biological properties.
