The primary objectives of this project were to evaluate the signal quality of dry electroencephalography (EEG) electrodes, and to develop an EEG headset that optimized usability and electrode performance. Two iterations of adjustable headsets were designed and tested using a side-by-side comparison method between wet (Ag/AgCl) and dry electrodes. The overall performance of the dry electrodes varied between participants and electrode sites, but high signal quality was demonstrated under ideal conditions. The major design outcome from the first round of testing involved adding the ability to independently adjust the angle of each electrode on the headset.
