OBJECTIVES: In 2012, Ontario pharmacists were granted immunization privileges for administering influenza vaccines to the public. This study explored the experiences and practices of pharmacist immunizers and the impact of immunization pain on their practice. METHOD:Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 pharmacists in the Greater Toronto Area. Transcribed interview data were coded and analyzed via thematic analysis. RESULTS: Pharmacists felt satisfied in their new role, despite the associated increased workload. Pharmacists felt that immunization pain was not akey consideration when administering vaccines and that pain management was not necessary.
