Commitment to Enlightenment

Awakening of this sort requires awareness of bodily finitude, of the inevitability of death, and the eventual shedding of material law, for the law of love to take it's place. This is a process through which we become fully human. Themes include: interconnection between heart and brain; moving between the reptilian and the mammalian brain; the idea that human beings are 'designed' to be Buddhas; an enlightened person passing enlightenment onto the whole planet; coming out of emptiness and living in emptiness; awakening by recognizing emptiness; awakening as 'feeling embraced by God';the difficulty of Zen practice; the importance of commitment to spiritual realization; the surprising nature of awakening
