The Perennial Philosophy

The second is more of an imagining that God is lonely. Themes include: the perennial philosophy; scientific materialism; humans as bio-chemistry; consciousness and love; suffering and trauma; coping with trauma through the creation of the separate self-sense or false self; fear and self-sense; the road back to union; the Beloved; God and creation; God and man; yearning for an end to separateness; yearning for union with the Divine; meeting the defences that we construct to deal with the heart-pain that was originally too much to sustain; types of defences and their scripts; the path to union via love throws up all of these defences and coping mechanisms to consciousness -- we need to feel into the original heartbreak that was too much to feel at the time; like a lotus growing from a swamp, we have to sit in the swamp of pain in order to grow; seeing through the lies of our coping scripts
