Método del diámetro en el punto de utilización para estimar la ingestión por bocado en cabras trashumantes, México

The objective of the present work was to establish prediction equations to estimate the weight of the bite browsed by goat livestock in transhumant grazing in the most preferred arboreal and shrubs species in six rangelands. Grazing behaviour was observed in six animals at random and it was simulated the mouthful manually by cutting with scissor according to the portion ingested ant the depth of the mouthful (stem, petiole, and central nerve of the leaf) collecting 10 samples by woody species. In each case, 100 couples of data (diameter and weight) were obtained. The values were contrasted by means of lineal regression, potential, exponential, and reciprocal equations. Due to the high alpha biodiversity and consequently of morphology and size of the leaves, the method of the use point diameter turned out to be of low applicability. Nevertheless, from a total of 132 tested equations, the best adjustment was obtained with the equations of potential type.El objetivo del presente trabajo fue establecer ecuaciones de predicción para estimar el peso del bocado ramoneado por el ganado caprino en pastoreo trashumante en las especies arbóreas y arbustivas de mayor preferencia en seis pastizales de montaña. Se observó el comportamiento de pastoreo en seis animales al azar y se simuló manualmente el bocado realizando un corte con tijera según la porción ingerida de acuerdo a la profundidad del bocado (tallo, pecíolo y nervio central de la hoja) recolectando 10 muestras por leñosa obteniéndose en cada caso, 100 pares de datos (diámetro y peso). Los valores obtenidos se contrastaron mediante ecuaciones de regresión lineal, potencial, exponencial y recíproca. Debido a la gran biodiversidad alfa y por consiguiente de morfología y tamaño de las hojas, el método del punto de utilización resultó ser de baja aplicabilidad.
