Background: Epidemiology studies show a strong relationship between glycemia and diabetic complications. In order to achieve a long term near normal glucose control, intensive insulin therapy isrequired. To reach this goal, patients should be guided by frequent self monitoring of blood glucose and measurement of HbAc1 three to four times per year. This study was designed in order to find the tools to achieve metabolic control in type I diabetic patients.Methods: Medical records of 145 diabetic patients were evaluated and compared with world wide studies.
