The response of a common Niger Delta wetland Cichlid ( Sarotherodon melanotheron Rüppell) to changes in pH was assessed under renewal static assssy in the laboratory using physical attributes such as swimming and body movement (including opercular and fin movement), mucus deposition at the inner opercular cover in addition to hematological parameters such as erythrocyte and leucocyte numbers and hemotocrit values of the fish. Fishes were exposed to varying adjusted pH regimes of 3.6, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 by acidification and liming employing recommended standard procedures. The result demonstrated that the fishes surfaced to the top of the water column regular in erratic and unsteady manner with increased acid of the water. Fish’s r...
