With several GHz spectra available worldwide, the 60 GHz unlicensed band seems being able to solve the bandwidth scarcity problem well known in wireless communications. However, the channel impairments and high carrier frequency raise challenges to achieve high data rate in indoor environments. It is observed that the UWB system is related to the 60 GHz system in terms of available spectrum and target applications. It is therefore reasonable to employ the signal processing and coding scheme well developed in UWB systems into 60 GHz systems for high system performance.
