Degradation of polymeric materials is a well-known phenomenon in outdoor plastic applications. To avoid the damaging effect of the ultraviolet (UV) radiation nanosize fillers like ZnO can be utilized. In this work, we tested how coated nanoparticles can be used as UV absorption agents in selected polypropylene matrix. Material properties such as mechanical properties, absorption levels and chemical changes were tested before and after UV exposure. The results showed that approximately 1 wt% nanoparticle addition gave adequate UV resistance properties compared to commercial compound stabilized with organic UV stabilizer
