The paper conceptualises roadmapping as a dynamic strategic practice and discusses the connections of foresight, innovation management and strategic management. The paper argues that organisations have a rising need to construct and foster relevant future-oriented knowledge that builds on the systemic understanding of the 'grand challenges', and to link this knowledge with actual strategic practices in the organisation.
