e-Maintenance the Road Ahead

It would seem commonly accepted that the most efficient way of carrying out maintenance is based on the need. Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) strategy has been proven to provide remarkable economic benefits when compared to corrective or predetermined maintenance. E-Maintenance is the technology that takes advantage of the recent development of hardware such as RFID tags, MEMS sensors and PDAs together with the development of software and especially the information Internet provides. In consequence e-Maintenance is the road ahead that provides the maintenance engineer and technician all the information that is needed to carry out maintenance following CBM principles in the most profitable way. In the presentation the main elements of e-Maintenance are covered and the future development of maintenance work relying on e-Maintenance approach are discussed
