Today there is a tendency in the industry to move to Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) strategy due to the remarkable improvement in Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) it offers. The modern way of introducing CBM is to use e-Maintenance technology in order to have the information always where it is needed i.e. by the machine which needs maintenance. RFID tags, smart sensors, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), diagnostic Web Services are examples of the key elements of e-Maintenance. The paper tries to provide information of the motivation for using e-Maintenance and describes the main elements of an e-Maintenance solution
