Structures built of FRP-sandwich are becoming a realistic alternative not only in small craft and highspeed vessels, but also in the components of larger ships. This is leading to an increasing demand for reliable and economical joints between large sandwich parts and metal structures. Bolting is not cost effective as the number of bolts increases in extensive parts in the project "Joints between FRP sandwich and metal structures" several joint elements were developed for being adhesively bonded to the sandwich panel in its prefabrication phase. This makes it possible to weld the FRP part directly to the metal structure in the shipyard
