A project on systems of socio-technologies and industrial safety was carried out in the period 1984-1989 within the framework of European Cooperation in the Field of Scientific and Technical research. A total of seven European countries have participated in the preparation and execution of the project. The project has investigated the human contribution in the safety of industrial installations. The report gives an introduction to the field of research together with the references to the national reports, which have been prepared within the project
