There are more than 3,500 fatalities per year across Europe that are caused by suicide and trespass on the railway. The EU project RESTRAIL is attempting to tackle these important issues. This paper gives an overview of the methodology that has been developed within RESTRAIL, for the evaluation of a wide range of preventative measures for suicide and trespass, which are known to be used across EU Member States
