This paper is from a joint study between Tongji University, China and VTT, Finland, which is aimed to figure out the current situation of HVAC systems, air filters and purifiers used in the buildings of China. The standards for air quality, air filters and purifiers in China and Europe are extensively compared. The filtration performance of HVAC systems and the people exposure level are analyzed based on the survey results. To obtain an equivalent exposure level in China as that in Europe, suggestions are presented for China's clean air solution in the HVAC systems
