This article focuses on the outcomes and key challenges of DESERVE project. The project aims at developing a new platform for ADAS functions that is based on common software tools to increase interoperability between the software components and consequently reducing their development costs. The design of ADAS functions able to support and cooperate with drivers is an important issue in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) research. The ADAS design aims at enhancing the driver's perception of hazards and critical situations, in order to reduce accidents and injuries and to improve road safety.
