In Western Europe, many companies are moving their activities to low salary countries, such as China and India. The speed of globalisation is increasing. This creates new demands especially for the manufacturing industry. The best way of keeping a manufacturing industry in at least a major part of Europe is to specialise, mainly in production, where there are needs for special skills, and where the price of the workforce is not a key factor. This is easiest with products which are highly innovative. There will hardly be only one successful vision to follow for the whole of Europe. With new kinds of business models, it is still possible to conduct successful business in Europe in the field of manufacturing
