We are developing an ice load portal to simplify and speed-up the preliminary design phase of offshore wind farms. This study demonstrates the functionality of the ice load design portal with case studies and comparisons in terms of various sites, turbine sizes and loading combinations. Visual geographical information tools integrated with structural analysis tools are fundamental for proper offshore wind energy planning and decision making. The presentation brings together principles of maritime spatial planning (MSP) by using GIS data and how it can be utilized in the preliminary structural design of offshore wind park.
