This chapter examines the processes of cultural exchange in Europe during the Cold War drawing on the example of the international women’s movement. It places a particular focus on the roles played by Soviet women in the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), founded after the end of the Second World War in 1945. At the micro level, regular meetings of the WIDF bureau and secretariat, convened on both sides of the iron curtain, provided the opportunity for individual women to work together to formulate and promote the organisation’s international agenda.
